This coming 20th June, surprise your Dad with a little gift of appreciation from Alice Florist!
Posted in Father's DayThe idea for creating a day for children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father’s Day while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909.
Having been raised by her father, William Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her father to know how special he was to her. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora’s father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.
In 1926, a National Father’s Day Committee was formed in New York City. Father’s Day was recognized by a Joint Resolution of Congress in 1956. In 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father’s Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. So Father’s Day was born in memory and gratitude by a daughter who thought that her father and all good fathers should be honored with a special day just like we honor our mothers on Mother’s Day.
Thus, Father’s Day gives an opportunity to show and express love and care who deserves our support most by giving them a wonderful gift…

Posted in Father's DayCozy sunday morning, the weather is so good for me not to snuggle with my pillows, somehow I decided to get up early to catch the morning breeze after a night’s pouring rain. After a light breakfast, we drove to the florist and did some final touch up of some flora arrangements, for today was the grand opening ceremony of Melaka International School.
Just then, I saw an oldman….
…in his old bike, selling chicken! In his ice box are slaughtered chickens, and underneath are chickens.. chickens alive!! Those chickens are making the “buack buack” noises!!
The smell came up abruptly when the odor is stirred up by the hyperactive chickens. Getting closer to the ‘antique’ cage to catch a glimpse of the tame chicken for the very few seconds.
Uncle has been rearing his own village chicken, ‘ayam kampung‘ for more than 35 years. With his over-the-years bicycle, and a cute Hello Kitty bag hanging on the handlebars, heading to the market. He will then stays in the market till all the chicken are sold.
Today, without fail, on the way to market, he stopped by in front of our shop. For we have so blessed to meet him today!
Daily Fresh… He is showing us what he has in the ice box, we decided to buy some chicken from him, obviously, not the hyperactive little ones.
“Deal…. This is your chicken!” He seems to has all he wanted for the days.
Love his timeless look.
He is having all the time in the world, for at least earning a living in his own pace, on a quite Sunday morning.
He shows me the meaning early bird catches the worms.
Another passerby, Uncle with all his treasures on a ride. Curiously, I asked myself, is he going to the same market?
Time flies.
Love your parents every minute, every day.
