Time Flies…
Cozy sunday morning, the weather is so good for me not to snuggle with my pillows, somehow I decided to get up early to catch the morning breeze after a night’s pouring rain. After a light breakfast, we drove to the florist and did some final touch up of some flora arrangements, for today was the grand opening ceremony of Melaka International School.
Just then, I saw an oldman….
…in his old bike, selling chicken! In his ice box are slaughtered chickens, and underneath are chickens.. chickens alive!! Those chickens are making the “buack buack” noises!!
The smell came up abruptly when the odor is stirred up by the hyperactive chickens. Getting closer to the ‘antique’ cage to catch a glimpse of the tame chicken for the very few seconds.
Uncle has been rearing his own village chicken, ‘ayam kampung‘ for more than 35 years. With his over-the-years bicycle, and a cute Hello Kitty bag hanging on the handlebars, heading to the market. He will then stays in the market till all the chicken are sold.
Today, without fail, on the way to market, he stopped by in front of our shop. For we have so blessed to meet him today!
Daily Fresh… He is showing us what he has in the ice box, we decided to buy some chicken from him, obviously, not the hyperactive little ones.
“Deal…. This is your chicken!” He seems to has all he wanted for the days.
Love his timeless look.
He is having all the time in the world, for at least earning a living in his own pace, on a quite Sunday morning.
He shows me the meaning early bird catches the worms.
Another passerby, Uncle with all his treasures on a ride. Curiously, I asked myself, is he going to the same market?
Time flies.
Love your parents every minute, every day.

“buack buack” noises??
Thanks for sharing…
i think the second uncle is going to a “pasar pagi” at a designated road in Jonker Street to sell his wares. That road is where Ringo cafe and Geographer cafe is located, facing each other.
If i remember correctly, since the beginning of this year, MBMB had allocated that road for vendors to trade their antiques and wares on every Sunday morning…

Can’t think of a better ’sound’ to describe the chickens! Don’t mind to share if you have any suggestions?
It’s called the Sunday Morning Flea Market at Jalan Hang Lekir, off Jonker Walk and Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (Heeren Street). I might pay a visit there one day!
Thanks Chan!
